Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SCS SB 265 -- STATEWIDE COURT AUTOMATION FEE

SPONSOR:  Mayer (Jones, 89)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on General Laws by a vote of 13 to 0.

This substitute extends the expiration date of the Statewide
Court Automation Fund fee from September 1, 2009, to September 1,
2013, and allows the Court Automation Committee to continue to
function until September 1, 2015.

FISCAL NOTE:   No impact on General Revenue Fund in FY 2010, FY
2011, and FY 2012.  Estimated Income on Other State Funds of
$83,333 in FY 2010, $100,000 in FY 2011, and $100,000 in FY 2012.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the fee is necessary to maintain
many current systems including "Casenet" and the fee collection
for probate estates.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Mayer; Missouri Bar
Association; Missouri Circuit Clerks Association; and Office of
State Courts Administrator, Missouri Supreme Court.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
